Born in 1969, DJ Derrick E. was clearly put here with music in mind. Before he could even talk, family members would ask him to pick out a certain piece of vinyl without even pointing it out, and he would do it! Derrick continued to be involved with music throughout his life, playing instruments, and singing. He then took a try at DJing with turntables, and learned how to mix on one turntable with a pitch control and one without! Derrick had his first mix played on the radio by Bobby D on the Downers Grove high school station WDGC. After that just about all his money was spent on DJ equipment and vinyl. While juggling DJing and a career in Information Technology, Derrick became a regular on the mix show “Sunday Night Street Flava” on the Chicago station B96. Shorty afterwards, Derrick started his own internet radio station and began making mixes to play on it. Finally in 2003, Derrick decided to become a DJ/Producer full time.
